Slightly Early Happy New Year

I have been a very bad blogger, both here and on my own blog, so here is the last post of the year and a promise that I will be much better next year. So, here is what everyone was working on at our last gathering before Christmas. Isobel was working on a travelling pattern which is very sweet, and I think this is the best photo I've got of her lovely fabric, although it still doesn't do it justice.
Next up is my Nemesis project, I have never had such trouble with a pattern before, this went to group with my last time because I was hoping that someone else could help me translate the pattern, They did, and thankfully it's not finished, I'll try and put a finished picture up at a later date.
Sam was making some lovely Christmas jumpers, I love this, who doesn't love a festive jumper?
And finally Susie was working on some socks with her magic sock yarn, I find these absolutely fascinating the way the yarn makes the pattern.

Happy New Year all, and if you'r New Year's resolution is to start a new craft, or spend more time working on one, then why not come along and join us, you can see that we work on quite a range of crafts.

December

I have been a terrible blogger recently, both here and on my own blog, so I apologise for that.
Firstly Isobel's lovely SAL, I love the fabric, but I can't get a decent picture of it.
And Sam's snowman is nearly done, I'm hoping for a Christmas finish

September

I've been a very bad blogger this month, first I forgot my camera, so these are all taken on my phone, hence the not great quality, then I was on holiday, so I've only got one weeks worth of photos and forgot to post, so here is everything that I've got a record of happening in September.
Firstly this is mine, my fingerless gloves. I have since finished them, and they're only a slightly different size, so I'll take that as a win. The colours don't come out great on my phone, they're honestly prettier in real life.

Sam is working on her snowman, who is looking great, and does now have cute and cuddly friends appearing as well, love it!

She's also finished this lovely little dude, very impressed by him!
And finally Susie restarted her rug because she wasn't happy with the colours. Loving this version, the cabling is coming out beautifully, and she's even managed to rib the bottom!

August part 4

I still love the fabric on this, this is the best picture I got so you can see the sparkle and colour, but it still doesn't do it justice. This is Isobel's lovely stitch along
I missed getting a sense of scale with this picture. Those are size sixteen knitting needles and this is going to be a rug made out of scraps of old clothes made by Susie. Without a pattern as well, I'm so impressed!

August pt 3

Anne is making a selection of gifts for a friend at the moment (early September deadline so she's working hard) and this lovely cross stitch is one of the gifts.
I'm working on crochet fingerless gloves. I've finished one, rather than darning in the ends and I'm now working on the second one. I've since undone the second one and restarted it again, so I'm getting there.
And we're still glad to have Sam back, here's what she's working on at the moment, so cute!

August part 2

It was lovely to see Rena back this month, and she brought along some crochet flowers that she's been experimenting with, aren't they cute?
And talking of crochet, believe it or not, I finally managed to finish the twiddle-muff, which means that this is also the first time that I finished a crocheted thing, so proud!
This week we also saw the return of Sam, who brought another piece of beautiful cross stitch with her.

August Part 1

Isobel has discovered the joy of SALs, this is her latest project, on some gorgeous sparkly fabric (very difficult to photograph the sparkle). It's it cute though!
My start on crochet fingerless gloves. Sadly I've since undone all of this because it was the wrong size, but at least you can see how I was starting off before I undid it all!

July Part 4

Isobel's carrying on with her lovely Bothy seasonal house, and you can really see the change from last time, I'm so impressed by her progress.
Secondly, and continuing in Anne putting me to shame last week, here's where my twiddle muff is up to. I'm absolutely set that I have to actually get this finished now, it's becoming ridiculous, especially as I've just learnt how to do corner to corner, so I'm tempted to do a second one like that!

July Part 3

It's all about Anne and her lovely creations this week. We realised last time, when I was working on my skirt, that the room we hire is actually perfect for cutting out patterns, so this week Anne brought al her cutting out with her. I think she managed to cut out five tops in two hours, and (due to me sneakily taking a picture), so can also see what the finished product will look like because she made the top that she's wearing as well!
Secondly, she's completely put me to shame by finishing her twiddle muff (I'm so ashamed that I still haven't). It looks fab and it's so tactile, Putting mine to shame in every way.

July Part 2

I'm trying to learn dress making, and it turns out that it's incredibly difficult (there's a chance I'm the only person in the world who hadn't already figured this out) and I'm incredibly bad at this. Thankfully for me Susie is very good and she's helping to explain the bits that confuse me.
You lose the sense of scale here. I had to stand on a chair to get this shot. the waist band was so wide we figured out that we could get me and Susie in it, and it's trailing on the floor, and I'm short but I'm not that short.
I have since put the elastic in the waist band so it's now only one person sized, and I'm in the process of taking it up.

July Part 1

I swear none of us bring the same project two weeks in a row.

Susie is preparing to make a rag rug, so at the moment she's cutting many randomly strips of fabric to do this with.

June Part 4

Here we have by crochet twiddle muff, which despite the fact it really doesn't look like it, I swear is growing. but I may have spent more time chatting than crocheting this week.
Susie's making a bag, out of jeans and pretty lining fabric. Can't wait to see the progress.

June Part 2

Susie says that you can't tell the difference from the last time I took a picture but I swear you can, so I'm posting it anyway.
And this is Isobel's lovely handbag, We're very impressed. There was a third acorn but apparently it was stolen by the cats

June Part 3

This week we have Isobel's lovely fairy, I keep forgetting what she's called, but she is lovely!

June Part 1

Anne's so close to her finish now, I reckon next time we see her she should have a finish on her hands. You can tell how close she is by the fact that you can't even tell what's missing from my awful photography.
My Twiddle Muff continues, although I keep getting distracted by other projects, so I'm really not as far on as I should be, and I am really loving the Ice Yarns, they're great and such lovely colours

Isn't it lovely!

This is one of the seasons cottages from Bothy Threads by Isobel, This is where she was up to by the time we left last Thursday, she was hoping to have page finished by the end of the bank holiday weekend, so hopefully there'll be another progress picture to show you all soon.

A little progress

We were quite a quiet group this week, possibly because we were in the run up to the bank holiday, so I've only got a few pictures over the next couple of weeks. I'll start with the beginning of my twiddle muff because it doesn't really look like much at the moment, although I did go bling shopping yesterday, and it turns out that I have quite a childish sense of humour.
I always forget the name of this piece when I'm posting an update for Susie, I think it's called Rose Arbour, or something along those lines, and it's definitely from Mirabilia. You can definitely see the bodice coming together.

Early May Part 2

I'm carrying on with my new project, which still looks like absolutely nothing, it turns out that I am the slowest stitcher that the world has ever seen.
You can see a little bit of pattern on the edge, this will be Cathy and Heathcliff when it's finished, although there has been some debate about hair colours, both are blonde, and we're all agreed that that's not right. Heathcliff should be darker, I'm less certain about Cathy, she's a red head in my head, but I've a sneaking suspicion that that's thanks to the Cliff Richard musical, but I might have a play with their hair colours.
Yet another nearly finished, Sam's getting so close to finished her lovely Snowman, there will definitely be a finish for Christmas, I should think before we even get into the summer.

Early May Part 1

Anne's project is looking beautiful, she's so close to the finish now. She was aiming for the end of April, so we're all pretending that it's still April. And it's looking great, hopefully I'll be able to post a finished picture of this soon.

This is Isobel's Mystery SAL this year... sadly I've completely forgotten who it's run by, but patterns are released throughout the year and you make two of three squares from each pattern then stitch them all together to make a very cute blanket.
I'm also loving Isobel's colour choices.

Check it out, four times in one month

Isobel is working on a lovely Bothy Threads project or seasonal cottages, they're so cute!
And Sam's been working on these lovely little motifs. Aren't they cute? And they work so well with the varigated threads
And here is Susie's crocheted Weeping Angel. She's so close. The pattern was adapted slightly to make it larger, one wing was easy and now she's trying to remember what she did for the second wing. But so close now!

I will remember to post more regularly

As I was posting progress pictures of my Star Wars project, I thought I'd show off the finished piece! Cloudsfactory pattern, stitched of Sparklies fabric, what do you think?
As I finished that I thought I'd also show off what I started at this weeks gathering. Can you guess what it is yet?
And here continues Anne's lovely progress on her Bell Pull, she's aiming for an end of April finish, what do you think, can she do it?

Twice in one month, who'd have believed it?

Susie's working on Roses of Provence, and you can see the dress taking shape, looking lovely. It's a lovely design, worth hunting down if you haven't seen it, although I suspect that there'll be a bit less pink in Susie's version.

Talking of less pink by the way, if I can encourage anyone to donate to Susie's Harrogate Homeless project cause that would be fantastic.
You can find the link Here

She'll either be going bald or spending the entire day dressed entirely in pink (pretty much her greatest fear), so please think about a little donation and voting for pinkness :-)
Finally my own update, Star Wars from Cloudsfactory, another gift (that seems to be mostly what I stitch at the moment), I'm not sure if the Emperor is meant to be cute, but he kinda is.

We're back

I'm aware that it doesn't show from my postings, but we do meet relatively regularly. So, here are some updates on our projects. Anne's been working on her lovely Elizabeth Bentley Bell Pull, and you can see how much she's done since I last posted a picture, it's looking brilliant.
Here's Isobel's lovely embroidery, I'm feeling very guilty that I can't remember the name of the designer (this is why I'm such a terrible blogger), but it's going to make a gorgeous quilt panel (along with many others that she has planned) when it's all finished.
I've never posted any of Ann-Marie's work before because she's only joined us recently, but her Beatrix Potter Clock is looking fantastic, all the cross stitch is done, so now she's working on the back stitch, everyone's favourite bit :-)
