Beautiful updates

Firstly I must apologise for being a very bad blogger, it's been so long since my last post, so I apologise for that, but this post is great (and so modest), because it jus shows teh variety of work that different people do when we meet up. Firstly Susie's crotchet, which is half finished at this point, I've since seen the finished piece, but when I took this picture we should set a challenge, what do you thing that it's going to be?
Secondly Sam's lovely flowers, I'm obsessed with Pansies, so I love this, and she's so close to finishing now. Hopefully I'll have a finished picture to show the next time I post.

Finally, Sandra's gorgeous quilt. She's willing to admit that she's been working on this for quite a while (and what crafter doesn't have at least one long term project stashed away somewhere. This is so amazing when you see it, especially as the squares are all so tiny so so much work has gone into it.

If you're interested in joining us in Harrogate on a Thursday night, either leave a comment or drop me a message through my profile and I'll send you all the details you need. Hope to see you there.

Twice a month

I've been very remiss about posting on here, and I keep forgetting to take the camera to meetings so I don't have any pictures of everyone's lovely work to post.
However, as we've now decided to take the meetings up to twice a month instead of just once, we're thinking of some kind of group project, but we're currently not quite sure what. The favourite seems to be quilts that can be donated somewhere, because that means that those of us that cross stitch can make panels, those of us that quilt can make a quilt for the panels to go on, and those of us that crotchet can make embellishments to go on the quilts and possibly toys to go with them.
What do you think? Can you think of any other group projects for us?

Meeting again on Thursday!

Another meeting this coming Thursday which we're very excited (well, I am anyway, I hope everyone else is as well), so I thought I'd post the last of the pictures I took at the last meeting. The first update is mine, which is Clara by Heaven and Earth Designs, with artwork by Hannah Lynn, it doesn't look like much yet, but she's progressing slowly.

Secondly is Sam's beautiful work. She's made a gorgeous needle book which I'm very jealous of, and the buttons that she's cross stitched are absolutely adorable.
Hopefully I'll have some more pictures soon, as I can take some more this week when we're all together again.
Happy Crafting!

Crotchet a go go!

Another update of beautiful work from Harrogate Craftwork Group, here are Rena's beautiful baby booties, absolutely adorable! I should have put something else in the picture to give a sense of scale, cos they're so small and cute. Her first attempt at crotcheting baby booties, which we're all very impressed by.
And crotchet corner, where the oracle gives lessons, she is sickeningly talented!
Rena did catch my taking this photo, as you can tell by the glare, but she wasn't quick enough to stop me!

June's gathering - Mk 1

Good afternoon, it's been too long since my last post, this is the trouble when we only meet once a month.
Izzy was the only person brave enough to actually pose with her work, which I'm very impressed with so she gets the first mention this week. She's posing with her cross stitch which was her mum's, and it's looking gorgeous!

I was told that I wasn't allowed to mention whose stiching this was, so as promised, I won't. However, I am going to tell everyone that it's her birthday today, and that I'm still contemplating phoning the restaurant to make sure that they embarass her this evening. Her stitching is also looking gorgeous, we obviously have a bit of love for flowers at the moment in the group.

More pics to follow, I'm spreading them out so that I can try and update a little more regularly.

Another month just flew by

There were many complaints when I got the camera out at the meeting this month, but I decided that we needed some pictures on this blog and chased people until they sat down.  As you can see from these pictures, everyone is either flinching or studiously ignoring me. I'll try and get some more pictures next month, maybe I'll find someone brave enough to let me put their work up as well!
We had some more newbies this week and so are slowly expanding, which we're very excited about.
One of our newbies (who I will refrain from naming so that she doesn't get embarassed) will henceforth be referred to as the oracle, as we all spent the evening asking for her advice on how to do new things. We also seem to be developing a bit of obsession with crochet. With 3 people working on it on the evening, and I've resorted to buying supplies since!
Happy stitching, hope to see you there!

A Shiny New Craft Group in Harrogate

Welcome to the blog for the Harrogate Craft Group, a group started for those in and around Harrogate (or further if you want  to travel, we don't mind) to get together and share their love of craft.
We don't mind what craft you do, or whether you consider yourself to be a beginner or an expert, if you want to come along, then do, and bring your craft projects with you. It's a chance to meet with other crafters, and do some of your own craft with people who 'get it' rather than people who look at you as though they think what you're doing is mad/old fashioned/just plain weird. Have a cuppa, have a chat, get some craft done. We've got stitchers, quilters and card makers (and that's just the three of us who met the first time), but we'd love to add some more crafts to the list, and to add some more numbers to the crafts we've already got.
We meet the 3rd Thursday of every month, so if you fancy joining us, or just want a bit more information, just drop us a message and we'll let you know what's going on.
